Although many of you might say this is another concept inspired by Nokia 888, it looks more like a belt rather than a bracelet. It has a leather belt and would be used in many ways such as belt for your pants.
We didn’t like the idea too much so we placed it on the last place in our top.
9. Nokia Open
And here we have the Nokia Open concept, a phone with pullout flexible LCD display that opens at the push of the button located in the middle, model inspired by Japanese fans.
As it would be a sweet phone for a lady, it is placed on the 9th position, because we like concepts made for anybody, but although it looks more like a piece of art rather than a phone, it brought Hugo Danti, its designer, first place at Nokia 4G Design Competition.
8. Nokia Scentsory
Nokia Scentsory comes on the 8th place and its coolest characteristic is that it spreads lots of pleasant fragrances when it is opened.
You would set the phone to spread a specific smell depending on who’s calling, like a ringtone. The material it’s made of is a folded paper airplane style and would be used even as an aroma therapy device if you like.
It sounds too fantastic and that’s why we had to place it on this position.
7. BenQ-Siemens Snake Phone
This concept is not looking like a snake but it can twist like one on your hand, as it was designed by Product Visionaries GmbH. It seems that designers are attracted by the idea of a bracelet phone, such as Nokia 888, but the Snake phone concept is less featured, having only the base functions of a phone.
6. BenQ-Siemens Black Box
The 6th place is occupied by the BenQ-Siemens Black Box concept, a glossy phone without keypad, having only a black touch sensitive display.
The user would access the application only via different icons with no text indications, which makes this concept the perfect device for all nations, regardless of the languages spoken.
5. The Transparent Phone Concept
This phone designed by Pei-Hua Huang has no name yet but its main characteristic is its transparency, and that’s why we chose to call it the Transparent Phone.
It has a transparent housing and a medium LCD display but it is no bigger than your credit card, and I am referring at its thickness too, so it would be very convenient to keep this phone in your wallet together with your credit cards, or not.
It has a 50 mm equivalent camera module and it is a project titled “What you see is what you get”.
4. Onyx Phone
The Onyx phone is a result of the partnership between Synaptics and Pilotfish that fits very well on the 4th place in our top because of its capability to let many different applications like GPS, music, teleconference, calendar and phone, work in the same time.
Onyx comes with the clear capacitive touch screen technology and combines an intelligent and adaptive interface with a sleek and stylish design. The Synaptics ClearPad technology consists of a hi-res capacitive touch screen that can be adapted to any viewable surface for finger input, eliminating this way the need for buttons, and providing 2-finger input, proximity sensing and text entry.
Onyx is one of the few concepts that are expected to be productized in the near future.
3. Asus Aura
Asus Aura designed by Egy Studio is not only a cool concept coming from a famous brand, but also a full-features mobile phone coming with support for 3G, EDGE, HSDPA and Wi-Fi, but also having a large display of 3.9 inches with touch-sensitivity technology.
More than that, there is also a built-in 2MP camera, and slots for miniUSB and microSD.
Asus Aura uses a slider QWERTY keyboard type and measures just 6mm thick.
2. Nokia Aeon
On the second place we had to put the Nokia Aeon full screen surface concept phone, although it was hard to decide between Aeon and Asus Aura, or in other words, between design and the number of features.
Nokia Aeon is a concept phone with a new touch screen technology type. Actually it has two screens, the larger one being the touch screen replacing the standard keyboard. 1. Nokia 888 On the first place is the Nokia 888 phone concept that had impressed everyone with its flexibility since it was made public. This model is designed by a young Turkish designer, http://www.tamernakisci.com/ Tamer Nakisci, winner of the Nokia Benelux Design Award, and we placed it on number 1 position in the top because of its unique capability to change its shape based on your settings.
If you’d own this phone and your girlfriend would have one too, you would be able to surprise her by sending a heart shape.
As her phone rings, she would wake up in the morning and would see her phone in a nice heart shape sent by you.
Then she would go out for launch with the phone round her wrist like a bracelet, and when you’d call her using 3G she would also watch you on the display.Nokia 888 can memorize shapes and even change its shape automatically, because of its liquid accumulator. The display is a touch screen type and the phone would accept also vocal commands.
Other characteristics would include Alarm, PDA functions, GPS, digital wallet and, why not, a jewel.
Here is the video demonstrating the special functions of Nokia 888.
